Hey guys!
No, I haven’t died. I’m just busy watching YouTube and eating black truffle potato chips (yes, those exist and theyre even better than they sound). But I am back and ready to make yet another travel blog post.
My friends and I literally just got back to Barcelona from Prague. It was such a beautiful city! It was so relaxing to be there, except for when we had to convert Czech crowns to USD, there was nothing relaxing about that. However, every building was so beautiful and the city was so clean. We loved Prague!
Our first stop in Prague was obviously McDonalds. It was late night and we didn’t have dinner so we decided to immerse ourselves into the culture and get chicken nuggets. We quickly fell asleep and woke up rested and ready for the day on Friday. In the morning we went to the John Lennon wall, you know the place that everyone takes pictures at in Prague. Instagram versus reality was so real here, however I still thought it was cute. The wall is pretty small but some of the art was pretty cool and there was a man singing Beatles songs, which is never a bad thing.
Both mornings we got breakfast at Marthy’s Kitchen. This was probably one of the best breakfasts I’ve had while abroad. Europe isn’t that good at breakfast, so when you find a good one it’s golden. Both days I got scrambled eggs with onion with a side of bacon and split somethng sweet with my friends. One day it was pancakes with fruit, the other it was a waffle with ice cream. This was heavenly. If you’re in Prague ever you must make the trip!
Other sights we saw were the astronomical clock, the Charles Bridge, and the Prague Castle. Two days to see all the sights isn’t a lot, but I think we did a pretty good job on this one. The clock was really cool. The design was beautiful and the whole square down there was pretty! However, there is really no need to wait for it to go off at an hour. A tiny skeleton pulls a string and a golden rooster comes out of the top slowly. It was literally like watching a pot of water boil over but with a lot less urgency. Seriously, not worth it.
Luckily for us, we had to walk over the Charles Bridge to get to the old town since we were staying on the other side, so we saw the bridge a lot. The view was so beautiful it made the walk to and from our apartment not as bad.
The real view however was waiting for us at Prague Castle. This is a castle complex that you can visit in Prague. It was literally a little village inside that you can explore. It was very cool. The best part was the views on the walk up and the walk down. Prague castle literally looks over the entire city and has sweeping views. It was impossible to get it all into one picture, but it was so beautiful to see in person.
To finish off our trip we went to the Beer Museum and to Bad Jeff’s BBQ. Sounds stupid but it was one of the best food experiences of abroad. First of all, I had chocolate beer. If you know anything about me, you know I have a chocolate addiction that could probably send me to rehab, so chocolate beer is pretty dangerous. It is so much better than it sounds so if you ever see it GET IT. And now for possibly the best part of the trip… Bad Jeff’s BBQ. Why would a group of 4 girls go to BBQ in Prague? What is so special about BBQ in Prague, of all places? Let me tell you that Bad Jeff’s had possible the best wings I have ever had. If not the best then definitely top 5. And that was just my appetizer. I finished with a half rack of ribs and some coleslaw. Coleslaw wasn’t rankable but the ribs were quite good as well. They quite literally fell off the bone and were extremely tasty.
This is basically a food review of Prague with a few notes about some sights we went to, but what did you expect from me? I cannot stop eating.
Next stop is Dublin for a long weekend and Thanksgiving! I will (probably, hopefully) update this then.
XOXO
Kristin
